Quality Control and Dryland Sort Supervisor TO QUALITY CONTROL AND DRYLAND SORT SUPERVISOR THE OPPORTUNITY We are recruiting for a Quality Control and Dryland Sort Supervisor to join our Englewood Forest Operation Woss, British Columbia . What You ll Do: The Quality Control and Dryland Sort Supervisor is responsible for delivering overall production targets. You will efficiently manage the sorting process and stay dedicated to sound business practices and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This is an integral position in supporting Western s ongoing initiative to improve safety and environment performance, efficiency, quality, and profitability, as measured by Production Phase metrics. Who You Are: You are a specialist at what you do - in this sustainable yet ever-evolving world of forestry, you bring expertise to coastal logging and grading. You come with over 5 years of industry experience, and people know you as a self-driven leader who has a proven track record of motivating teams to achieve performance goals. Work Environment: This role is performed in-person with proper safety plans in place. RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership Provide leadership and direction to improve safety and environmental performance, reduce operational costs, and drive efficiencies with Company hourly employees and contractors; Support the ongoing improvement of production phase metrics, review and utilize metrics to improve efficiency; Control inventory (i.e. unsorted logs, sorted logs, boomsticks and equipment); Recommend effective strategies for the financial well-being of the Operation; Hire, train, coach and manage performance of hourly employees and contractors; Create and sustain a culture of accountability and continuous improvement; and, Protect Western s reputation by managing product quality issues, maximizing value and consistent quality in our products, engaging support from senior leadership as required. Operations Oversight and coordination of the overall sorting process to ensure production targets are met; Ensuring Company booming and sorting specifications are adhered to; Responsible for ensuring that operations are conducted within the standards of the Environmental Management System; Coordinate activities with quality control and other phases to maximize value recovery opportunities; Work in partnership with the General Foreman and other Production Supervisors to ensure efficient fibre flow. Works closely with the Sales team and external customers to meet customer grade and quality expectations, as well as assess and develop mutually beneficial process changes; Responsible for safety, managing environmental issues and assuring product protection, and safety effectiveness and education of safe handling methods to assure worker safety and reduction product damage; Ensures that the correct quality specifications are being followed in order to satisfy the needs of the intended customer; and, Stay abreast of industry innovations and trends in timberlands practices to improve company margins. QUALIFICATIONS Education And Experience 5 - 7 years of experience in Forestry Operations in increasingly responsible roles; High School diploma or higher; Previous experience or exposure to Quality Control; Extensive knowledge of and experience with coastal logging and grading; and, Log scaling license considered an asset.
