Cool Aid Position: Seniors Recreation Worker Job Description This is a great opportunity to join an organization that is committed to ending homelessness and improving the lives of the most vulnerable in our community. The Seniors Recreation Worker will act as an access point for participants for a variety of in-house and community resources, including recreational activities, health care, substance use services, and mental health supports. To support seniors overall wellness, the Seniors Recreation Worker will plan, organize, implement, and evaluate recreational, social, and/or educational activities to meet participants needs. As the Seniors Recreation Worker, you will work with other staff and participants using a strength-based, participant centered approach to develop recreation and wellness activities to promote long-term stability. You will also familiarize yourself with each participant s situation and help develop an individualized and documented service plan to improve personal wellbeing, medical, financial, and social stability as needed. To succeed, you will have an excellent understanding of the issues faced by seniors and people who have been vulnerably housed in the past. You will also have a sound understanding of the support needs of people with low incomes. Above all we are looking for a motivated, committed individual who has a genuine desire to support people to transform their lives. Qualifications Degree or diploma in a related human or social services field, Diploma in Recreation, Vocational, Education, or Leisure Studies. At least one (1) to three (3) years of experience working with seniors in a related environment. Or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Requirements Full class 5 driver s licence and driver's abstract. Complete the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General Criminal Record Check. Job Information Hourly Wage Rate $24.48 - $28.52. Work Locations Various. Work Days Monday to Friday. Shift Time To be determined. Weekly Hours: 36. Union: BCGEU. Benefits : Eligible for 100% employer paid benefits. Portability Candidate upon hire may be eligible to transfer the hours worked with other Community Social Services Agencies under the Retention and Portability memorandum. Some restrictions may apply.
