The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Development Engineering Technologist to join our team of professionals in the Community Development Division, Development Engineering Department. Reporting to the Manager, Development Engineering, in this unionized position you will apply your knowledge and experience in administering assigned development projects. This position will appeal to candidates who have experience in community development planning and engineering requirements. Responsibilities: Oversee and outline engineering requirements for assigned development projects Coordinate and attend pre-design/preconstruction meetings and perform site inspections Design and review specifications for conformance to applicable bylaws and standards and monitor construction progress to ensure adherence to plans Assist internal/external contacts with review of erosion and sediment control plans and ensure compliance with the Erosion and Sediment Control bylaw Review drawings for all infrastructure and legal requirements and prepare specifications, schedules and cost estimates Draft servicing and development agreements ensuring adherence to plans and specifications Perform related work as required Qualifications: Graduation from an Institute of Technology with a diploma in Engineering Technology, plus considerable related experience preferably in a municipal setting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience Considerable knowledge of municipal engineering practices including the preparation of engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in construction of municipal infrastructure Ability to administer assigned engineering projects, collect and analyze technical, costing and related information Ability to prepare and maintain records, reports and related correspondence Ability to establish and maintain effective communication with a variety of internal/external contacts, developers and consultants In order to be considered for this position, candidates must have the following valid and current certifications/licenses (must be valid at the time the posting closes) and these must be attached with your application. Certification or eligibility for certification as an Applied Science Technologist within the Province of BC Applicants are advised that it is a condition of employment with the Township that a successful candidate provide proof that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Note: proof is not required as part of the application process, however, will be required upon consideration for employment. The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $40.35 - $47.69 per hour (5 steps, 2020 rates) plus benefits. The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm.
