Human Resources Officer 
Position: Human Resources Officer LOCATION: Provincial Office, Abbotsford REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer POSITION SUMMARY This full-time permanent position is a member of the Communitas Executive Team and reports to the CEO. The Human Resources Officer (HRO) provides oversight and strategic leadership to the organization. This position is responsible for guiding and providing oversight to all Human Resources related aspects of the organization. SPECIFIC DUTIES Recruitment Oversees HR Manager of Recruitment and provides overall guidance for staff recruitment Oversees recruitment of volunteers; liaison with volunteer related agencies, including MCC Staff Work Performance Ensures that work performance standards are maintained including the advancement of a work performance review process for all staff. Advises CPO, PDs and Managers regarding staff discipline and performance issues and provides direct involvement as needed Oversees investigations and termination processes and provides direct involvement as needed Staff Training In conjunction with the larger leadership team, develops provides overall training framework for the organization Responsible for management of the staff training budget Staff Relations Oversees HR Manager of Retention and ensures positive staff relationships throughout the organization Maintains an open door policy for all Communitas staff Participates with CEO in Staff Forum meetings and supports open communication strategies Develop and implement a Restorative Practices Hub to support positive conflict outcomes Ensures that employees are treated in a fair and consistent manner Responsible for the interpretation of labour laws/regulations such as Emp Standards, WSCB, Human Rights Negotiates return to work processes for extraordinary WSCB or Medical Leaves of Absence Wellness Initiative Oversees Wellness Coordinator and promotes wellness initiatives for employees Act as a champion for organizational wellness initiatives Other Human Resources Responsibilities Serves as Communitas representative with regards to union issues. Is responsible for developing and implementing HR policies, programs and procedures in accordance with COA accreditation standards Organizational Responsibilities Together with Executive Team, develops compensation levels and job categories for Communitas staff Together with the Executive Team, is responsible for risk management; identifies analyzes the nature, severity frequency of risks Responsible to ensure that all COA standards are maintained Participates in decisions regarding allocation of funds outside of program budgets Together with Board and Executive Team develops vision, strategy and direction for Communitas Implements Communitas Strategic Direction; actively supports, promotes enhances the Communitas culture Supports culture of quality and participates in addressing quality impact initiatives Acts as Communitas Privacy Officer - responsible to develop and implement privacy policy as legislated Participates in regular meetings within the organization Responsible for HR reports to the CEO Other duties as assigned REQUIREMENTS Degree in Human Resources or related field (Masters preferred) or CHRL designation 5-plus years of senior HR experience; demonstrated ability to serve at an executive level team Excellent mediation and conflict management skills; restorative practices experience an asset Excellent oral and written communication skills Demonstrated emotional intelligence; excellent interpersonal and coaching skills Demonstrated ability to lead and develop staff and teams Teamwork, leadership and supervisory skills Excellent organizational skills A philosophy of service that is in line with Communitas Vision, Mission and Values Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality Flexibility in working hours: Participation at meetings, events may involve evening/weekend work Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination POSITION START DATE: ASAP RESPOND IN WRITING TO: Layne Bieber, HR Manager-Recruiting Email: HR@CommunitasCare.com To meet us in person, please come and see us at The Black Press Career and Post-Secondary Education Event. - Free Admission - Bring Your Resume Thursday March 16th, 2023 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM Sheraton Vancouver Guildford Hotel (In the Guildford Ballroom) 15269 104 Ave. Surrey.
