Community Wellness Coordinator Prince George and Designated Communities, BC Full time - 35hrs/wk Carrier Sekani Family Services (CSFS) is seeking a Community Wellness Coordinator. The Community Wellness Coordinator will support Community Wellness team members in each community, such as Prince George, Takla and Yekooche, to respond to health and child welfare matters and assist in developing preventative community strategies and planning. Duties and Responsibilities Meet with the committees of each community and assess their unique needs and challenges and provide guidance and support as per the established terms of reference Adhere to the CWT terms of reference, the Child, Family and Community Service Act, and other related legislation Complete and maintain meeting minutes and complete reports as directed by the CSFS Executive Director for Child Family Services In conjunction with the Community Wellness team in each community, plan and facilitate capacity building within the community (e.g. mentoring committee members, training, workshops, and one on one support) Provide information and resources to the committee and arrange for guest speakers to provide information Act as a key contact for the community wellness teams, CSFS and the Nations Organize and facilitate monthly meetings with the Community Wellness team with each Nation the coordinator has been assigned to work with Research and gather materials on Carrier Sekani member Nations history, culture, and customs Support collaboration between the Community Wellness team and appropriate partners such as Carrier Sekani Family Services (CSFS), Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), First Nations Health Authority (FNHA), and the Ministry for Children and Family Development (MCFD) Determine the community s needs, problems, and barriers with existing legislation Maintain and share awareness of community resources, including programs offered by each community, including traditional wellness beliefs, activities and ceremonies, CSFS, FNHA, MCFD, and other appropriate agencies Other duties as required Qualifications and Educational Requirements A post- secondary degree or diploma in Social Work or Human Services with experience working with First Nations communities, or a related field preferred. An equivalent combination of education, and experience may be considered. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Extensive knowledge of Carrier and Sekani traditional culture, customs, and socioeconomic conditions Knowledge of existing provincial and federal legislation related to child and family services and health services Demonstrated experience facilitating and engaging with small First Nation communities and professional partners Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Ability to work independently as well as part of a team as required Ability to maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures Ability to use Microsoft office, excel, and outlook Experience writing reports Ability to understand and speak the Carrier language an asset Working/Special Conditions Extensive computer work and typing requiring long hours sitting and using office equipment Lifting of office boxes and supplies may be required May be required to work evenings and weekends Exposure to regular travel to remote locations and winter road conditions Must possess a valid driver s license and be required to use own vehicle. Initial and on-going employment is subject to the submission of a clear Criminal Record check. A Criminal Record Check must be conducted every three years.
