Buckerfield s is currently hiring Assistant Warehouse Operators , to join our fast paced, growing, knowledgeable team of employees. JOB SUMMARY This is a temporary position to provide assistance to Buckerfield s regular staff during peak periods and to fill vacancies during periods of staff absence. Specific job duties will be assigned by the Store Manager. All job duties must be performed with due regard for personal, staff and customer safety. All safety issues arising in the workplace must be reported to the Store Manager. Permanent positions may be available for the right candidates and will be based on individual store requirements. Duties and Responsibilities The Assistant Warehouse Operator will perform the duties and responsibilities listed below: Safely unload and safeguard all incoming shipments of merchandise and other assets arriving at Buckerfield s. Verify that all incoming shipments are received in satisfactory, resalable condition. Report all discrepancies to the Store Manager or his/her designate (eg. Receiving Clerk). Ensure all incoming shipments are accompanied by matching packing slips and invoices. Report all discrepancies to the Store Manager or his/her designate (eg. Receiving Clerk). Confirm that all incoming invoices/packing slips list the correct contents of incoming shipments completely and accurately. Report all discrepancies to the Store Manager or his/her designate (eg. Receiving Clerk). Document the correct Buckerfields receiving code (UPC Code/Item Number) for each incoming product on the corresponding invoice completely and accurately for data entry by the Receiving Clerk. Report all discrepancies to the Store Manager or his/her designate (eg. Receiving Clerk). Meet, greet and serve customers courteously and politely. Load customer purchases into their vehicles safely and legally. Move inventory from the yard and warehouse storage areas to merchandise areas designated by the Store Manager or senior staff. Prepare and submit product orders to the Store Manager for approval. Detect, prevent and report to the Store Manager any and all theft, loss or damage of merchandise or other company assets. Assist with preparing and shipping inter-store transfers. Perform cashier duties from time to time including store opening and closing. Report safety issues and other matters to the Store Manager. Substitute for absentee staff Other duties assigned by the Store Manager and senior staff. Employment Expectations This is a physically demanding position that requires good health, robust conditioning, endurance and compliance with WorkSafeBC requirements. This position requires regular attendance in accordance with the Store Manager s posted schedule. The Assistant Warehouse Operator must: maintain positive, cooperative and respectful work relationships with all co-workers and the Store Manager follow the direction of the Store Manager and perform the work assignments diligently and effectively be courteous and polite to customers using appropriate verbal and written communication skills develop good working knowledge of farm, feed, livestock, garden, pet, veterinary, hardware, and apparel products. The employee must maintain valid Forklift Certification and the ability to operate a forklift carefully and safely at all times (to be completed with on-the-job training) The employee may obtain a valid BC Pesticide Dispenser Certificate and Veterinarian Drug Dispenser Certificate (to be completed with on-the-job training, for employee s that retain long term employment with Buckerfield s) Position to be filled immediately and will be scheduled to work a minimum of 35-40 hours a week. You may be required to work weekends and statutory holidays.
