Job Title: Prep Cook Department: Culinary Services Reports To: Director of Culinary Services and/or Assistant Director of Culinary Services FLSA Status: Non-exempt EE0-1 Job Category: Service Worker Purpose You have a complete understanding of just how important dining is to our residents often the highlight of their day- and you strive to make them feel there's no better place to be. You develop creative ways to make mealtimes unique and memorable, and you know what residents like because you ask and you listen. You ensure residents' tastes are indulged and their suggestions implemented. You accept the challenge of delighting a variety of discriminating palates, and you recognize the role of fine dining in surprising visitors and driving sales. Job Summary Assist with the preparation and presentation of meals. Principle Duties and Responsibilities: The following essential functions are the fundamental job duties of the position to be completed with or without appropriate reasonable accommodation. Provide a high level of customer service and promote a restaurant style dining atmosphere. Work closely with the Director of Culinary Services and/or Executive Director to keep residents satisfied with food and dining programs. Assist with the preparation and execution of the Art of Atria Dining enhancement programs. Maintain kitchen in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition at all times. Adhere to cleaning schedules as assigned. Ensure that all food is received, stored, and prepared according to Company standards. Assist cook with preparation and presentation of meals and snacks in accordance to Company recipes and production guides. Keep kitchen floors clean (sweeps and mops) and trash emptied. Assist with the transportation and storage of food and supplies. Assist cooks as requested. Adhere to Quality Enhancement standards and standard food safety practices. Assist with preparation and execution of special events, banquets, and theme meals. Will attend pre-meal stand up in kitchen prior to meal service. May perform other duties as needed and/or assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Food handlers permit as required by state law and/or Company standards. Required Behavior Able to build positive and strong relationships with employees, coworkers and residents. Focused and dedicated to provide excellent customer service. Able to handle multiple jobs and priorities. Accepts direction from superiors or other experienced staff. Shares job knowledge or resident information with others as needed. Gives and welcomes feedback. Operates and maintains kitchen equipment in a clean and sanitary manner. Able to follow and read recipes and production guides. Knowledge of food handling, preparation, cooking and service.
