Maintenance Tradesperson (HVAC & Plumbing)  
Maintenance Tradesperson (HVAC & Plumbing) Full-time, continuing position, 40 hours per week, effective immediately. The terms and conditions of the IUOE Collective Agreement shall apply. Rate of pay is according to schedule. Job Summary: An employee with a journeyman's ability who is responsible for performing HVAC, controls, and plumbing inspections, servicing, and preventative maintenance. Job Duties: Estimates time, materials and manpower requirements for HVAC, controls, and plumbing projects. Reads HVAC, controls, and plumbing drawings, sketches or building plans for information concerning related servicing and installations. Inspects, installs, modifies, repairs and maintains all building HVAC, controls, and plumbing systems. Performs preventative maintenance inspections of all HVAC, controls, and plumbing equipment. Maintains a current knowledge of the National Building Code and Provincial and Municipal regulations that have a direct bearing on the trade. Performs mechanical repairs. Provides guidance to other maintenance workers as required. Practices all applicable School District and WCB safety policies. Maintains a current knowledge of applicable standards, codes and regulations. Performs other related duties as assigned or required. Job Requirements Grade 12 or equivalent plus BCTQ or Inter-Provincial Plumbing or HVAC&R certification with current gas fitting endorsement for commercial / institutional use or equivalent qualifications and experience.Exercises discretion and confidentiality in dealing with all matters pertaining to students and staff. May be required to obtain both a certificate in sprinkler system repair and maintenance and a certificate in the installation and repair of commercial/institutional back flow prevention. Basic knowledge of electricity. Must have working knowledge of pneumatic and DDC systems. Must have a valid B.C. driver's license. Must have a working knowledge of all applicable School District and WCB safety policies. Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with others both verbally and in writing. Must be physically able to perform the duties of the position. Knowledge of standard computer programs.
