CPIC Operator(Temporary)Two (2) Positions Immediately, subject to the return of the incumbent Competition #: 07-COV-18Closing Date: Internal applicants - January 17, 2018External applicants - January 24, 2018Rate of Pay: $29.62 per hour (as per CUPE, Local 626, Vernon Civic Employees Collective Agreement)Band: 6 - Schedule A (as per CUPE, Local 626, Vernon Civic Employees Collective Agreement)Days / Hours: Varies Reporting to the Manager, Records and Client Services - RCMPs, this position involves a high percentage of data input into the national Canadian Police Info Centre (CPIC) computer application as well as the operation of PRIME computer applications. Duties:Performs all categories of data entries onto the CPIC data base in a timely and accurate manner.Peruses operational files and court documents to identify and extract CPIC related information; data enters / modifies / removes CPIC entries as appropriate to ensure data is current and accurate.Monitors CPIC messages and disseminates and responds as required.Monitors CPIC transactions and performs CPIC maintenance as required.Performs CPIC quality assurance reviews and generates, reviews and actions monthly purge and validation lists.Carries out CPIC information queries requested by various internal and external authorities and prepares and distributes findings consistent with policy and legal restrictions.Provides relief at front counter and switchboard on ad hoc basis.Performs PIRS and PRIME maintenance in relation to CPIC.Performs other related duties as assigned. All persons employed by the City of Vernon will be required to assist the City in providing emergency services. Duties assigned during an emergency may differ from regular duties. Required Education And Experience:Completion of Grade 12 plus courses equivalent to 1 year post-secondary.2 to 3 years minimum related experience.Previous experience with regulations and procedures and the operation of CPIC/PRIME/JUSTIN/PIRS computer applications.Security Clearance by the RCMP. Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:Knowledge of filing, indexing and general office practices and procedures.Skill in the operation of computers with reasonable speed and accuracy and working knowledge of other associated office equipment.Ability to work independently.Ability to learn assigned clerical tasks readily and to adhere to prescribed routines.Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with the public and/or other staff persons.Good knowledge of law enforcement and criminal justice procedures and related documents. Knowledge of the Criminal Code, Federal and Provincial Statutes.Skill and knowledge of RCMP computer operating systems including CPIC, PRIME, JUSTIN and PIRS.
