Senior Payroll Clerk 
Posting No. 17-108 - Senior Payroll Clerk Applications are invited for the position of Senior Payroll Clerk at the School Board Office, for 35 hours per week, 12 months of the year, effective as soon as possible after the posting closes. Reporting to the Payroll and Benefits Supervisor, the Senior Payroll Clerk shall have the primary responsibility for bi-weekly payroll administration and benefit support for 380 CUPE Support Staff. Duties will include but are not necessarily limited to:organize, schedule, perform and process bi-weekly support staff payroll, which includes collection of all payroll data, reviewing and inputing hours, tracking vacation seniority, banked and sick time;manage the administration of the CUPE benefit plans;remittance of employee contributions and employer deductions;preparation of T4s and annual reports;administration of the municipal pension plan;process and report HRDC and WorkSafe BC reporting requirements;liaises with internal departments, WorkSafe, Municipal Pension, HRDC and other agencies;other duties as assigned. The successful candidate will have:Required Qualifications:Three years current experience in processing computerized payroll and all related functions in a medium to large union organization, and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the payroll process;Successful completion of a diploma or certificate program (approximately 700 to 1100 hours of instruction) at a recognized post-secondary institution in an accounting/payroll administration program which provides sufficient preparation and knowledge of a complete payroll process and related functions; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience;Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with MS Excel and MS Word;Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with payroll procedures and benefits administration;The ability and experience to handle a high level of confidentiality;The ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with district staff and the general public;Proficiency in both oral and written communication;Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize workloads, multi-task, enter data Accurately and efficiently, meet deadlines and work independently;Superior math, reconciliation, analytical and problem solving skills;Experience working with collective agreements. The rate of pay for this position will be $26.35 per hour in accordance with the current collective agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 723.
