Information Technology Help Desk Technician 
Date: July 24, 2020 To: All Members The Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 723 From: Director, Human Resources Subject : POSTING NO. 20-85 - Information Technology Help Desk Technician Applications are invited for a full-time (40 hours per week) Information Technology Help Desk Technician position effective as soon as possible after the recruiting process. This position will report to the Manager of Information Technology and be responsible for supporting information systems at the district and school level. The primary job function is to support a ticketing and asset management system and assist IT Technicians. Qualifications, Training and Experience A recent certificate or diploma in computer technology or related area; One year recent experience within the Information Technology industry in a support or Help Desk capacity; Strong competence with Microsoft systems (Office/O365, Microsoft Access, Exchange, Windows, Active Directory) Experience with installing and configuring computer hardware and workstations; Highly organized, detailed and multi-task oriented, with the ability to balance priorities; Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all user groups; Exceptional customer service skills with an ability to interact in a friendly and professional manner; Solid problem-solving and troubleshooting skills coupled with a willingness to learn. Job Characteristics and Requirements Provide first and second level support on computer hardware and software issues on Microsoft platform; Ensure timely recording, tracking, and escalation of end-user technical problems and requirements received via telephone, email or in person. Assist school district employees with the operation and use of computers and related software; Monitor network systems and report variances to team members; Maintain appropriate records; Follow proper work procedures and observe all regulations pertinent to the work. Perform other duties as assigned. The rate of pay for this position is $26.90 per hour (under review), in accordance with the current collective agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 723.
