DATE: May 6, 2019 PROGRAM: PEACE Program (previously CWWA) PAY RATE: $27.59 BCGEU Rate Step 13P #Hrs. Weekly: 20 hrs. Monday - Friday 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm START DATE: As soon as possible Program Description: PEACE Program Counsellor provides individual and group psycho-educational sessions for children/youth who experience and are affected by violence Summary of Requirements EDUCATION: Bachelor Degree in a related human / social service field TRAINING EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years recent related experience OR Equivalent combination of education, training and experience EXPERIENCE PROFICIENCIES: Interviews children/youth, prepares case histories and outlines services provided by the organization. Assesses the impact on children/youth experiencing violence and their group readiness Develops and facilitates support sessions for children/youth Conducts individual support sessions with the children/youth and/or individual members of the family using techniques such as active listening, conict resolution and psycho-education; provide emotional support Provides emotional and parenting support and referral services for parents Conducts post group interview with children/youth and/or their families; recommends follow-up services where necessary and make appropriate referrals Maintains related records, statistics and prepares reports as required Maintains current knowledge of issues and resources related to children/youth who experience violence; provide presentations and public awareness activities about services and issues Performs other related duties as required OTHER REQUIREMENTS Access to and use of vehicle, Class 5 drivers license with clear Driver s Abstract Clear Criminal Record review Submit resume and handwritten cover letter to: Attention: Sherry Beal, Executive Director North Coast Community Services, 710 Fraser Street Prince Rupert, B.C.
