V0J 1P0 (T) (250) 996-7171 (F) (250) 996-8010 JOB POSTING Emergency, Health and Safety (EHS) Officer We are seeking an experienced and highly responsible individual to develop and manage Nak azdli Whut en s emergency preparedness, health and safety response plans, policies and strategies. The EHS Officer shall also be responsible for the development and implementation of the Workplace Harassment and Violence Prevention Regulations and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations. Responsibilities: Collaborate with all department managers to develop, implement and manage the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations throughout all offices and workplaces locations. Develop, Implement and manage the Workplace Harassment and Violence Prevention Regulations SOR/2020-130 pursuant to subsection 157(3) of the Canada Labour Code. Responsible for implementing an overarching organizational health strategy, including mental health in collaboration with health professionals and the Nak azdli health centre. Verify, monitor and conduct inspections of all health and safety devices Identify appropriate emergency preparedness training requirements such as alarms, fire suppressions systems etc. Coordinate the emergency operations centre (EOC) in a declared state of emergency. Facilitate EHS meetings, communications and relationships with various stakeholders, partners, agencies, local government and Provincial and Federal departments and ISC as needed. Compile and maintain a current list of emergency trained individuals, ie. firefighters, swift water rescue, that may be called upon when and if a situation arises. Respond to all emergency events and disasters, fires, landslides, flooding, earthquakes, hazardous material spills etc. Preferred Qualifications: High school diploma plus other related academic training or education OH S Certification, Amateur Radio Licence, First Aid, CPR AED Certification Ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with different stakeholders in collaborative and adversarial settings under significant time or resource constraints is essential Sound knowledge of emergency management in British Columbia Provide a clear Criminal Record Check Valid BC Class 5 Driver s licence Closing Date: Friday, October 30th, 2020@ 4:00pm Note: Candidate will be required to provide an acceptable criminal record check and vulnerable sector check as a condition of employment.
