Housing Manager 
Housing Manager Position Overview The Housing Manager reports directly to the Band Administrator and is responsible for administering, managing, and delivering Lax Kw alaams housing programs and services in the community of Lax Kw alaams. This is a full time , non-union position. Duties and Responsibilities Assist Band Administration in managing and administering all housing programs and services; Identify funding needs and opportunities and oversee the completion of funding applications; Manage, direct and schedule housing staff including responsibility for recruitment, performance reviews, discipline and dismissal; Enforce all housing-related policies and bylaws including any necessary evictions; Work with community members and tenants to resolve housing issues; Ensure compliance with any applicable standards and rules; Create and maintain records in compliance with applicable standards, policies and/or bylaws; Provide regular financial reports as directed; Provide support to Council s Housing Committee as required; Assess, assign and prioritize work to repairs and maintenance staff; Maintain internal controls and standards regarding maintenance and repairs, records, purchases, and accounts receivable procedures; Manage and administer housing-related accounts and funding; Prepare, review and approve purchase orders to complete housing program related activities; Ensure housing program expenditures are made within budgetary parameters; and Other duties as assigned by Band Administration. Formal Qualifications Successful completion of Grade 12; Journeyman Carpenter; Project Management experience; Valid Class 5 BC Drivers license with access to vehicle; and Satisfactory criminal background check; and Successful candidate must reside in Lax Kw alaams, BC or be willing to relocate to Lax Kw alaams, BC Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Knowledge of ax Kw alaams housing policies and procedures, services and activities; Knowledge of Tsimshian language, culture, customs, and traditions is preferred; Ability to handle difficult situations with tact and sound judgement; Strong leadership skills; Excellent oral and written communication skills Organized, accountable, responsible; Able to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality; and Preference will be given to qualified members of Lax Kw alaams Band or in absence of any, preference will be given to qualified Indigenous individuals. This role will appeal to a self- motivated individual with exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills. Salary will be based on education, experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
