Activity Coordinator 
Position Title: Activity Coordinator Location: Nair Place, Langley, BC Summary of Position: Under the direction of the Community Homes Manager, the Activities Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, evaluating and participating in activities of daily living as required. Typical Job Duties: Develop, implement, evaluate and participate in activation, life skills, recreational and/or social activities designed to meet the needs of clients. - Safe administration of medications. Observe clients and their environments, and reports unsafe conditions and behavioral, physical, and/or cognitive changes. Promote client participation in activities and provide feedback regarding the performance and progress of clients. Meet with other service providers to assess activities, client objectives and goals; liaise with residential care workers and families to promote client participation. Interview clients to establish eligibility or appropriateness for activity, refer clients to other programs/services as needed, and provide information regarding available resources. Complete and maintain related records and documentation such as statistics, progress reports, activity plans and client activity profiles. Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: Diploma in Therapeutic Recreation or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience or other qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work Ability to facilitate group programming and engage with individuals with concurrent medical and psychiatric disorders. Recent, related experience of two years Certificates in First Aid + CPR, WHMIS and FoodSafe Knowledge of community and psychiatric resources and services. A Valid BC Class 5 drivers license and vehicle, Criminal record clearance through the Ministry of Justice required if hired Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to work with people with a mental illness. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others. Ability to operate related equipment. Ability to organize and prioritize. Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients. Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients. Good motivational skills.
