HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER (Competition #19-042) The City of Cranbrook is located in the southeast corner of British Columbia amongst the majestic Rockies and Purcell mountains, in close proximity to Alberta and the Canada/USA border. With a population of approximately 20,000, Cranbrook is the largest community in the East Kootenay with a trading base of approximately 70,000. The City of Cranbrook is recruiting for the position of Human Resources Manager. The Human Resources Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and guidance to the City s Human Resource function. As an important member of the City s leadership team you will oversee: Talent acquisition Labour relations Training and development Performance management Contract and policy development Administration of benefits WorkSafeBC and disability claims management The Human Resources Manager is responsible for supporting the organization s leaders and employees in understanding and interpreting policies, supporting development, and collaborating on strategic priorities while making sure all Human Resources strategies align with Corporate objectives. The qualifications for this position include: Education: University degree in Business or Public Administration with a concentration in Human Resource Management, or a degree in another relevant discipline. Certified Human Resources Professional designation preferred. Experience: Minimum 7 years Human Resources or related experience in a unionized environment. Experience in grievance handling, collective bargaining and labour management negotiations. Thorough knowledge of legislation, union contracts, employee benefits, Labour Relations Code, the Human Rights Act/Legislation and Employment Standards Act. Specific Skills: Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and with limited supervision. The ability to cultivate positive relationships with key stakeholders including: employees, leaders, labour officials, customers, the general public, academic institutions, external partners, and other public bodies. Possess strong business acumen. Solid strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. The ability to take a creative, collaborative, and solutions-focused approach to human resources and business opportunities. Exhibit strong integrity and commitment to corporate vision and mission. A proven track record of advancing a corporate culture. Ability to lead significant change management initiatives.
