Dietary Server 
Job Title: Dietary Server Job Location: Western Canada Platform Reporting Relationship: Food Service Manager/ Food and Beverage Manager Complexity and Scope of the Position The Dietary Attendant/Server/Aide is responsible for assisting in the preparation and serving of meals and providing catering services. Ensures work areas are maintained in a safe and sanitary condition. Assists in maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents, visitors and other staff members. All duties are performed in the best interest of the residents and their families, and in accordance with Chartwell s vision, mission and values statements. Key Activities Resident Relations: Prepares food for serving to residents. Ensures resident satisfaction with meal service. Responds to resident or family member concerns and ensures appropriate action is taken within decision-making authority and/or brings to the attention of the Food Services Manager/Food and Beverage Manager. Leadership: Participates as a member of the work team and provides support to other team members. Budget Financial: N/A Marketing Occupancy: Performs the set-up, serving and tear down services at booked catering events. Effectively communicates and interacts with residents, family members, visitors and volunteers in a courteous and professional manner. Projects an appropriate image and focuses on customer service excellence. Regulatory Compliance: Conducts duties in accordance with Chartwell policies and procedures, as well as, government regulations, laws and policies. Performs audits and reports anomalies in accordance with established policies, procedures and licensing regulations. Understands and follows all health and safety policies and procedures. Works safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, other staff members and residents. Promptly reports all actual or potentially hazardous situations. Maintains confidentiality of residents personal information. Operational Administrative Systems: Sets-up, strips tables and serves food/beverages in accordance with established policies and procedures and all applicable regulations. Unpacks and stores supplies. Maintains work and storage areas in a clean, safe and sanitary manner. Washes, cleans and stores dishes, cutlery, fixtures and equipment used for food preparation and service. Operates and cleans food service equipment, furniture and maintains dining area. May wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots and/or pans using dishwasher or by hand. Other: Performs other related duties as required. Qualifications Experience: Previous food services experience in a retirement residence, long term care residence or other hospitality environment. Education: Completion of secondary school education or equivalent. Valid Food Handlers and Beverage Service Certificates as required by local/provincial regulations are preferred. First Aid Certificate is preferred. Skills Abilities: Ability or read, write and follow written and verbal instructions in English. Demonstrated empathy and understanding of the needs of seniors. Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. Ability to organize work and work under strict time constraints. Special Requirements Work involves standing for extended periods of time, lifting and carrying heavy trays and items. Wears personal protective equipment (or clothing) as required by task, MSDS, or residence policy. Ability to respond to emergency situations (as per Chartwell policies and procedures).
