Program Coordinator 
Cariboo Friendship Society Family Ties Program (Supportive Visitation) Program Coordinator Job Description: Under the Supervision of the Cariboo Friendship Society, Executive Director the Family Ties Program Coordinator will be responsible for facilitating activities, supervising family visits with children through MCFD Social Worker referral. Ensuring safety of the children visiting with their parents, and/or family members. Duties: Coaching, modelling, and educational advice to parents ie: assessment/evaluation, grief and loss coping skills, goal setting, family relationship support, mediation, and behaviour management strategy skill development, life skills training, community resource access/ knowledge, employment skill development, relationship improvement skill development, problem solving skill building, and advocacy; Conduct supervised visitation sessions as scheduled; Observe parental attendance and appropriateness and make notations as required; Implement services identified in the Ministry service plan to reduce risk and facilitate the reunification of the family; Assist parents in how to communicate feelings, and comfort children; Report on the progress the parents and/or family members have made in developing parenting skills and ability and in understanding the reasons for supervision of visitation; Report on the progress the parents and/or family members have made in dealing with separation, grief and loss; Qualifications: Human Services Certificate, and /or related educational experience Leadership, organization, and communication skills Previous experience working with families would be an asset Must be able to work effectively with minimum supervision Must have experience with program implementation Background and knowledge family law process, parenting skills, grief and loss, substance abuse Must submit to a criminal record review Must communicate effectively in English, both verbally and written Must maintain professional conduct and abide by the Cariboo Friendship Society's Code of Ethics Must have knowledge and understanding of local Aboriginal cultures and the ability to follow protocols within the Aboriginal communities, and Ministry of Children and Families A valid class 4 and a class 5 Drivers License would be a definite asset as providing transportation maybe necessary Must be willing to work flexible hours as necessary Closing Date: Until Position Filled To apply, please submit your resume to Cariboo Friendship Society 99 South Third Avenue, Williams Lake, BC V2G 1J1 Please include three work related references Pursuant to section 41 of the BC Human Rights Code, preference will be given to applicants of Aboriginal ancestry.
