Dietary Aide/Housekeeper 
DIETARY AIDE/HOUSEKEEPER Job Summary Reporting to the Support Services Manager (or designate) the Dietary Aide/Housekeeper is responsible for the food preparation, portioning, cleaning, maintaining cleanliness of the assigned areas and is also responsible for meal service. Responsibilities and Duties Sets tables, serves food and beverages in accordance with established policies and procedures and all applicable regulations in accordance with the corporate HACCP plan. Using proper body mechanics unpacks and stores supplies. Maintains work and storage areas in a clean, safe and sanitary manner. Washes, cleans and stores dishes, cutlery, fixtures and equipment used for food preparation and service. Operates and cleans food service equipment and furniture. Prepares food items and assembles ready foods for meal trays Serves foods in the rooms and dining rooms Delivers food trays to units and dining area Provide services in dining room and dish room Cleans tables, and service counter area after meals Washes dishes pots and pans Other duties may include light food preparation, portioning and plating. Demonstrates knowledge of fire/emergency procedures and policies of the facility; participates in fire and emergency drills. Demonstrates knowledge and application of elder and staff safety. All safety rules and safe work procedures are adhered to at all times. Reports all hazards, incidents, near misses and workplace injuries to the manager immediately and in writing. Does not participate in unsafe situations (horseplay), and corrects any unsafe conditions if able. Actively participates in all Health and Safety initiatives and make suggestions to improve Workplace Health and Safety. Performs other related duties as assigned Housekeeping Portion: Provides housekeeping services in the resident care rooms and common areas in accordance with the established work routines. Provides personal laundry services for care residents in accordance with established work routines. Completes terminal cleans of residents rooms. Ensures residents are provided with a secure living environment, patrols the building and investigates building access violations in accordance with established policies and procedures. Supports the facility Safety Program and monitors safety in the living and working environment, responds to and reports hazards, near misses, incidents, accidents and unsafe or faulty equipment. Follows Health authority laundry guidelines. Demonstrates knowledge of fire/emergency procedures and policies of the facility; participates in fire and emergency drills. Qualifications Grade 12 education Current Food Safe Level 1 Certificate. Current WHMIS certification Must be able to communicate in English. Must have working knowledge of special diets. Previous experience in Long-term Care Facility and/or previous food service establishment is preferred. Must be able to operate related equipment. Time Management: Uses his/her time effectively and efficiently; values time; concentrates his/her efforts on the more important priorities; gets more done in less time than others; can attend to a broader range of activities. Special Requirements Current and clear TB Test. Current Criminal Record Check through the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General. Working Conditions Physical Demands The work requires good physical condition in order to respond to the food service requirements of a busy dining room that provides food to staff, seniors and their families. Psychological Demands Interruptions from staff, residents, and families make it difficult to concentrate for extended periods of time; there is constant pressure to prepare quality meals within an approved budget.
