Clinical Secretary BC Cancer Kelowna Kelowna, BC Are you efficient and detail oriented? Provide effective support to our clinical teams as a Clinical Secretary so we can in turn provide the best health care to our patients. What you ll do Screen and prioritize patient needs by relaying patient information to and from doctors' offices and outside hospitals; obtaining reports; ensuring timely follow up action is taken by medical staff in response to calls; coordinating patient appointments and tests; and retrieving patient data. Arrange meeting times, book meeting rooms, notify attendees, and circulate materials. Prepare agendas, distribute minutes, and take appropriate follow-up action. Participate in interdepartmental meetings. Prepare on-call lists and weekly staff schedule. Prepare and maintain correspondence and memos. Draft routine items for signature. Coordinate and prepare for clinic conferences by sending out notices, typing case notes/histories, and co-ordinating patient activity with ACU staff. Prepare presentation materials for educational sessions, workshops and conferences. Assist with research by gathering information and typing proposals, grant applications and abstracts. Greet visitors and handle inquiries; screen and prioritize telephone calls. Open, screen, prioritize and distribute incoming mail. Maintain department manuals. Collect, collate and type statistics for departments. Book hotels and make travel arrangements as required. What you bring Grade 12 graduation. Graduation from a recognized secretarial program, including a recognized course in medical transcription. Three (3) years recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. You have the ability to: Keyboard a minimum of 60 WPM. Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Deal with others effectively. Organize work. Operate related equipment.
