Position: Temporary Full Time Residence Support Worker Location: Kelowna, BC Wage: $21.92 per hour, as per the collective agreement Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 3:00pm - 11:00pm Summary : Axis Family Resources is currently recruiting a Temporary Full Time Residence Support Worker for a respite program in Kelowna supporting children and youth with special needs between the ages of 6 - 18. Working in this role, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team utilizing a double staffed model with in-house behavior consultant support. As the children and youth in this program require significant additional medical, social, and educational assistance; the resource cares for only one child at a time for two-three day increments. The intent is to promote each child s healthy development, maximize their quality of life, and support full participation in the community. Qualifications Requirements: A certificate or diploma in Health Care Aid/Resident Care Aid, Human Services or Community Services Applicants who have experience with at-risk youth or challenging behaviours such as FASD, Trauma or Autism will also be considered. The individual requires support to deal with developmental challenges and/or disabilities, mental health, and/or behavioral challenges. Experience working with Anxiety, Soto s syndrome, aggressive behavior and Limited verbal communication skills preferred A class 5 drivers licence and safe driving record abstract. Current Level 1 First Aid (including CPR) Certification (must be completed within 3 months of hire) Approved Criminal Record Check Skills Abilities: Good verbal and written reporting skills. Good organization, computer literacy, as well as time and house management skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Knowledge of theory, principles and practices working with Trauma, Autism, or other challenges.
