Job Connections for Immigrants (JCI) Program Employment Specialist Wage: $29 per hour Full time: 35 hours per week Temporary: August 15, 2022, to July 15, 2023 Market, Promote and Recruit Participants to the Job Connections for Immigrants (JCI) Program Join the team at Archway Come Help Us Help People Location: Abbotsford Hybrid Work Model: Work from the office/work from home Job Summary: The Employment Specialist reports directly to the Program Supervisor and is responsible for marketing, promoting, and recruiting participants to the Job Connections for Immigrants (JCI) program. This position is also responsible for connecting with the community and seeking practicum placements and job opportunities for program participants. Your Role: Archway s Employment Specialist with the Job Connections for Immigrants Program (JCI) contributes by: Liaising with community service providers and other professionals to promote awareness of the JCI Program and facilitate referrals. Recruiting potential participants to the Program. Scheduling and chairing the Advisory meetings, including notifying members, booking the meeting rooms, and taking and providing minutes. Establishing a network of community employers able to hire participants for job and practicum opportunities. Assisting JCI participants with job applications. Monitoring and supporting participants during practicum/job placements. This position is a great fit for someone who has a good understanding of current employment issues, life/employability skills, trades and apprenticeships, career decision making, and the current labour market, and is good at networking, marketing, and relationship building. Our Offer Wage: $29 per hour. A full-time position at 35 hours per week. Hybrid work model - opportunity to work from the office/work from home. Temporary - August 15, 2022, to July 15, 2023. Getting an Interview - you will be considered if you have: Post-secondary education in Marketing/Business, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years experience and skills in networking and marketing. Two years employment related experience. The Job Requires you to have: A valid Class 5 BC Driver s License and a satisfactory Driver s Abstract. A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is a condition of employment. A reliable vehicle as you will be transporting clients. The ability to communicate with multi-barrier ELL persons. Good computer skills, the ability to use a variety of software programs including Office 365 and databases. Knowledge of settlement language issues. Cross-cultural experience and sensitivity skills. Adaptability and flexibility to adjust to changing needs and situations. Switch tasking skills to change between a variety of tasks quickly with no down time.
